Description

This evocative sculpture fuses a high-heeled shoe with a woman’s torso, the heel itself formed by a disembodied arm—a grotesque stand-in for structural support. A hand covers one exposed breast, suggesting both shame and control, blurring the line between self-censorship and imposed modesty. The piece explores how women’s bodies are simultaneously displayed and suppressed, objectified yet regulated. The shoe, often a symbol of power or femininity, becomes a mechanism of imbalance and dependence, upheld by a severed limb. “Support System” lays bare the irony of a culture that demands beauty while amputating autonomy, asking: what kind of support is it, when it comes at the cost of wholeness?
